Changing the face of Peruvian Healthcare

Peru is a third world country, and although it has a medical system in place, Peru lacks the knowledge and resources to function at it's full potential. 40% of the country lives in poverty and it is the upper class who really gets the limited care that the government can offer.

In May 2012, I will be travelling to Peru to help establish medical centres, help doctors with their common practices, help people learn basic first aid (so to an extent they can take care of themselves) and help out with a UN-initiated campaign to spread awareness about HIV/AIDS. I'll be down in Peru for about a month. I'm going through a well-known organization called Nexos Voluntarios (www.nexosvoluntarios.org). In total, my trip will be about $5000. ...And here's where the fundraising comes in.

Sleep is a Symptom of Caffeine Deprivation

And that is the truth! That's why selling coffee in the centre of campus in the middle of midterms was an absolute success!

So, for those of you that don't know: today I hosted a bake sale at the Y-intersection on campus. It ran from 11am-2pm. We baked up a storm yesterday at my place and sold it today, along with Santropol coffee.

Everything sold very well! All four massive thermoses of coffee were sold out before 1pm. Thanks so much to Tyler, Victor, MJ, Robin, Claire, Alex, Meaghan, Jef and Elena for all your help! (And special thanks to all those people I bugged to death for various bits of help). And most of all, thanks so much to Santropol for all your help and support in supplying such a large amount of coffee!!

In total, today was a success. I ended up with a total income of $140.19 Canadian, $1 American and a Euro.

You guys are awesome, thanks for all your help!

Bake Sale!

Hello Again!

So I have some exciting news: my bake sale got approved!

There will officially be a "Peru: 2011" Bake Sale at the Y-intersection on McGill campus on Tuesday, October 12th, from 11-3.

Any help baking goods and/or helping me sell would be super appreciated!! If you can help me out, feel free to email/facebook/text/talk to me whenever you get the chance.
